Anyone know how to easily access the radiator drain plug and engine block bolt so I can install the block heater?

I do, it says to drain using the radiator drain plug, then remove the engine block bolt and install the heater there. It looked easy until I tried to fit my hand/tools in there :(

You might have to pull the intake to work on this.

Its much easier to install from below. I used a deep 19mm socket with a 1in extension to put the ratchet in a spot that I could turn it. I didn't drain the coolant in mine, only lost about half a quart.

I suppose you don't have photos of that angle? I'm definitely installing this on mine this spring.

I do not. I used a lift so doing it from below was no problem. If you go from above you're best to remove the turbo intake tube.

so was it pretty messy? I'm assuming you just get the heater in there as fast as possible, fighting a downpour of coolant? I'd rather not drain, but I don't have a lift, and whatever comes out is likely going to be on me!

Went to my buddy's shop, although we just did it on the floor, without removing bumper.
  1. Remove intake hose
  2. Break bolt from above
  3. Install heater element
  4. Run wire, drop it, tie to bumper.
Yes, it is messy, but loose less than 1gl of coolant.
