Repairing Scratched Windshield?

A couple of days ago, I caught a flying plastic lid to the middle of the windshield running from the bottom and right over the sensor cluster. At the moment it trips LKAS sometimes.

Anyone know if there's a process to repairing the gouges? I'm out of work so I have more time to burn and less money to throw.

Ouch. That'd ruin my day.

I'll point you to my post here about cerium oxide.

It's worth a shot. That kind of mark might not come out completely, but I think polishing with cerium oxide will greatly help.
