There’s a dance you have to do with the remote start which makes this impossible. The only way to have the car start in gear is by disabling all the safeguards that are required for the installation of the remote start. He is referring to accidentally leaving the car in gear when the car is trying to start.
This has happend to my buddy, he also had to replace his garage door ?

The dance involves leaving the car running when you exit the vehicle. It shuts off when you leave. If you enter the vehicle again (open doors or hatch), remote start is disabled (until you do the dance again). With this setup it is impossible to start the car in gear unless you exit the car running with it in gear (in which case you’d have other issues).

My takeover process is:
- Put it in neutral
- Foot on the brake
- Apply parking brake
- Get out
- Get in the car
- Press the star/on button
- Hit the brake
- Drive
