I have been considering getting a 2016 or later model civic and came across the reports of air conditioner problems. Is the problems on 2016 thru 2018 only or also on 2019, 2020?

I've seen a few people with 2019s reporting issues with their A/Cs on here. My 2019 Si has been issue-free so far, and all the 2020s may also be too new for these problems to have emerged yet.

I thought maybe beginning with the 2019's honda would have fixed the quality issues, but probably some of the civic enthusiasts would have known about it.If nothing has changed there is no reason to expect a different outcome with 2019, 2020's. I see so many of these for sale and i wondered what is wrong that people would want to part with them. Maybe this defect has turned them off ?

This has come up on this forum in recent weeks. If I remember correctly, this was an issue from 2016-2018? maybe 2019 as well. It had to with a condenser issue, but Honda issued a recall to replace the condenser. Try using the search on this forum and you'll find many threads on it.

In regards to 2020, I have not had this issue, nor have I read about anybody having A/C issues. But as @Drake said above, the 2020s might be too new for an issue to emerge as of yet.

Neither my 18 si coupe nor my 20 si coupe had/have any issues but both had tinted windows and I use the system correctly.

I finally did find some posts in regard to this issue, and some have the problem on the 2019's as well.In my area of the country we have lots of auto parts manufacturers for the Japanese brands. They don't tend to change design of parts until the model changes as they have so much money invested in equipment unless something is a safety hazard or from lawsuits like have been filed in this case. The civic is such a nice looking car, and good reviews on the engines, etc.I just don't know if i want to risk a $2,000 repair on this.I will stay tuned and see if honda does anything other than the condenser extended warranty.

Lol this is not a joke question. Is there a wrong way?
What i meant is i use the auto function with reasonable expectations and don't run around with windows open and the a/c on auto at max low.

What i should have said is i use it like a normal person should.

People complain about remote starting and it not being a icebox within 10 minutes. Etc.
