Need help to identify the relays in the picture attached (the number in the diagram) or guide me where to find info about those. I copied the pic from one of the threads here. Basically my 2016 Civic EX has AC problem that most people encountered. My car is out of warranty. I changed the leaking condenser but the AC is still only working intermittently (blowing cold or hot air) I am trying to see if the AC relay is the problem. Thank you in advance.

HI,

My honda civic ex 2016 AC is not working. I would like to check if the relay has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Can someone help me identify the AC relay. I was told by the Pep Boys that it could be inbuilt in the compressor also. Please help. I don't want to send it for diagnosis as the charges are very high.

Thanks,

Rahul

Rahul- In all likelihood you probably ran out of refrigerant. (That's what happened to me, have had the car for a little under 2 years. Based on other threads on this forum, its quite common- either a leak or bad compressor) I'm not under warranty so I took mine into a shop I trust. We literally checked to see if there was refrigerant in there by pressing the valve under the hood and saw it was low/empty. You could likely do this your self.
He ran a diagnostic and saw no apparent leak, let it sit over night and filled it up.
If you're under warranty take it over to the dealer.

"... you probably ran out of refrigerant. "

100% more chance than a relay or other thing.

Hello,

My wife's car is having ac issues. The compressor clutch is not engaging.

I tested the connector to the compressor and am only getting 200mV to one pin and none to the other two pins. I was expecting to get 12V to ar least one pin I tested the fuse and the ac clutch relay which both are fine.

Any suggestions on where the issue maybe?

Difficult to suggest the rest, I'm not a car specialist.
Do you have the knowledge to be sure that you have correctly measured everything you mention?
I followed several forums to realize after 5 pages of discussions that measures supposedly good were not.
Did you put the air conditioning to the maximum for these tests?

Yes, I have diplomas in electronics and auto mechanics though I no longer work in those fields.

The test was performed on the temp set to low but not max. The relay was removed and bench tested.

Is there a refrigerant pressure switch that will cut power to the clutch if pressure is too low?

Yes there's a refrigerant pressure valve to prevent the A/C compressor to be engage to avoid damage of the A/C system when there's not enough refrigerant.

The A/C of my Honda Civic 2016 27K mileages was not working. I replaced the relay but that did not fixed it. I read about Honda's extended 10 year warranty on A/C parts related to the evaporator:
https://www.civicx.com/forum/threads/ac-problem-finally-on-warranty.40020/ apparently bad manufacture that creates pinhole after some time.

I contacted my dealer ship that they told me to bring my car in when it does not fall under warranty I'd have to pay US$ 279 (2nd dealer told me US$ 429) to check for leaks and to refill the new expensive Freon 1234yf.

So I did and my leak was causes by the condensator under extended warranty.

Be aware there are exclusion of the warranty when cause by object, for details read Service Bulletin above.

Good luck. Hope it turns out to be the evaporator under warranty. Please let us know.
