Hey all,

I have a set of Desmond Regamaster Evo IIs in 18x10 +50 coming soon and am wondering if my desired tire fitment will rub.

I am staying on stock suspension and want to run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 285/35/18; the overall diameter should be 25.9” which is close to the stock diameter of 25.8”. Also, I have read that the PS4S runs narrow in comparison to other tires.

ICB Motorsport says that a 275/35/18 will clear with no rubbing (I am assuming they mean on stock suspension, but could possibly clear lowered w/o fender mods due to the offset).

I have seen that someone is running a 295/30/19 (which has diameter of 26”) on a 19x10 +55 stock height with no suspension clearance issues and no rubbing on full lock.

Examples:

Given this information, I believe I should not rub with this desired setup; mostly it’s just myself in the car but rarely I drive with 3 passengers.

Please let me know if I am overlooking anything, just want to be sure I will not rub on stock suspension with 285/35 on 18x10 +50.

Thanks!

18x10 +50 will fit like a 9.5 +44 which is a pretty conservative set up.

A 275/35 should for sure clear especially on stock suspension but 285/35 is a pretty tall tire and slightly bigger than stock diameter wise. I would like to say it shouldnt rub on stock suspension but im not 100% sure.

any reason why you want to go with a 285/35 over a 275/35?

Thanks for your replies!

My thinking with the 285/35 was to have less speedo error (but not really a big deal) and to close wheel gap a little, like how others run a 255/40 instead of 265/35 for 18s.

Since sometimes I have the car loaded with passengers in Comfort or Sport it may be better to run 275s to be safe.

What are your thoughts of running a 275/35/18 200tw tire on stock suspension?
Maybe I would need camber mods to take advantage of the 200tw.

I saw in another thread you are running RT615K+, how's the road noise?
Sweet setup by the way!

275/35 would give you a pretty close speedo reading also.
a 285/35 would give you a slightly taller sidewall but its like a 1/4" diameter difference which means the wheel gap would be closed 1/8" which really isnt THAAAT much.

i don't see anything wrong with running a summer tire on stock suspension. The stock suspension is pretty capable as long as you dont mind the wheel gap. I ran a 9.5 +45 w/ 265s before i lowered the car and had no issues.

Thanks. The RT615K+ are not bad for the price. If I was tracking the car, i would have probably stepped up to their better compound the RT660s but for street and canyon road driving, i just didnt feel necessary to step up. Road noise isnt that bad either. (to me at least)

Ok cool! Yeah I haven't actually tracked this car yet but take it on spirited canyon runs often.

Been thinking of tracking it after the whole virus clears up (so maybe tracking in 2022 lol). disclaimer: never tracked a car before but maybe Assetto Corsa/Forza on a sim setup is some sort of experience? ?

Tire wear is not really an issue since this car probably only gets driven ~2500 mi/yr, work from home, but it is my only car.

I am thinking that a "Max Performance" summer like PS4S is a better choice for me rather than 200tw tires but think PS4S should be competent enough for track once I decide to track the car.

I'll just run a 275/35/18. Now my debate is whether it's worth it to run a 200tw or something one notch below like a PS4S haha... :hmm:

i personally would always go for a 200tw tire.

doesnt really rain here in socal and i dont daily the car so i have no reason to get non 200TW tires.

if it's worth it really depends on you. Theres nothing wrong with running on PS4S.

I always worry about passengers and full load compression and tire rub. I have seen people blow out their tires this way and cause damage to their fenders. Having said this, I will be sticking to Desmond Regamasters, 18x10 ET50 with 275/35/R18 PS4S’. My delivery date is 04/30/21! Tire delivery date from Tire Rack is 06/04/21. Can’t wait!!!

I should add that the car in Comfort Mode with the LE Cup 2 Tires, is very comfortable in daily driving compared to other high performance cars I’ve owned/driven. Completely livable in Long Island. I would however never take it to the NYC unless I had the 18’s mounted.

Good point, yeah it rarely rains in SoCal, and the RT615K+ is really well priced compared to A052 (don't have 275/35/18 though), RE-71R (which looks like it's being phased out), and RT660.

Just considering passenger comfort a bit, but then again, it's my car first and foremost! ?
By myself I pretty much always drive it in +R; comfort and low noise are low priority for me haha.

Nice! My delivery for the Regas is also on 4/30. I ordered Satin Black from ICB.
And dang, the wait for PS4S through Tire Rack is very long, just checked the website and sure enough availability is until 6/4... o_O

Thanks for the info regarding the Cup 2 tires, your LE looks amazing!
Wish they made a lot more sizes for 18s haha.

Yup! Matt talked me into Satin Black too... I asked him if Spoon Center Caps would work with the wheel and he hasn't responded. Let's see what he says!

Awesome! I feel like without center caps you get a more "racecar" look lol, having caps look nice too though.
I am leaning more on the side that the Spoon caps should fit, but yeah let me know what he says!

He said Spoon CenterCaps will fit. He also said the container is another 1.5 months out meaning we should see the wheels in our possession in 3rd-4th week of May.

Great, thanks for the info.

ETA is a bit longer than I would have hoped for, but still super stoked for the Regas!

I think you'll be fine. I'm running a 295/30 AR-1 up front on the same wheels and have no rubbing, even during full lock. I could prob run a 5 mm spacer to make it more flush honestly. It sticks out less than my old setup which was 265/35 on 9.5+35.

Keep in mind this lowered in swift springs and about -2.0 negative camber up front.

Nice! Thanks for the info.

Does that setup require fender cut/roll?

Read that those AR-1s might be better than R888R (track-wise), but probably too extreme for me haha.
Have you ran CR-1s by chance? I have been considering them for 200tw.
