Late last night outta nowhere my rear windshield just shattered on its own!!!! No sign of penetration just a perfect looking glass shatter and looks like a giant spider web . The most damage was the top two corners other than that it’s all webbed. Has anyone had this happen to them? Should warranty cover it or insurance?

Had this happen on a 2 year old Jetta. Bad window just blew out. I’d been ruining ac and it was hot. Just parked the car and it happened. Vw wouldn’t pay for it, did some research and discovered it more common than you’d expect. Something to do with badly tempered glass from the factory. Btw all auto glass, doesn’t matter what brand, is made by 1 of 2 Chinese companies.

Way too much of everything (including glass) have been coming from the People's Republic of China, but the above is far from the truth.
There are many glass factories all over the world.
