If I’m not mistaken, all 10th gen models (including the type R) share the same rear pads and rotors

Rotors for the Type R is different from the Si. It’s just the rear pads that they share the size.

Why not upgrade the front calipers, that take most of the braking burden anyways

There is no rear BBK because of the EPB and the type r has similar rear brakes set up. Last I heard R1 had something up there sleeves but don’t think they ended up pushing forward with it.. haven’t heard anything since Sema. Your better off getting a brake pad with a more aggressive bite on all 4 corners. Can also try slotted rotors

R1 concepts has a rear upgrade that utilizes the EPB motor. But it's expensive as hell, think $2000-3000 for the rear kit. You have to call them to order it.
Rolloface also has a rear big brake kit that works with the parking brake.
Rage brakes has a rear caliper riser and larger rotor kit.
