I'm looking to replace the origial rear struts on my 2016 Civic. Just reached 70K miles but the clicking and bouncing on roads is pretty annoying. I have been looking at direct replacements like the KYB KY3430042.

Are there any better brands out there that will provide a long-lasting and smooth ride? My car is not lower and I do not plan on making any adjustments to it -- just need to replace it with something similar.

I installed Bilstein B4 shocks on the rear of my '16 EX-T with 97.5k miles on the clock. The OEM shocks did well to last as long as they did, and I wanted that same quality - but couldn't justify the super high cost. The B4s were about half the cost of Honda's OEM and have a nearly bullet-proof reputation.

The old shocks were so bad (wallowing on uneven surfaces, popping noses, uneven tire wear...) that probably a bottom-rung el cheapo shock would have been an improvement. That having been said, a few quick slalom-type maneuvers in a long and deserted road brought back the predictable, quality handling I remember the vehicle had when it was new. a 90-degree right turn at 30mph was flat and solid.

These won't make your car perform like a 2021 M3, but they will make the ride like new again!

lol exactly what I was going to post hahah
my 2016 also needs just one rear shock since it is leaking and dealer wants $700 just for one replacement (facepalm), though car has only 9000 miles on it
KYB looks like cheap alternative at $57
and OEM shock at $120 plus shipping

@bubbaleenc will this be the one you got on yours? https://www.ebay.com/itm/224525996411?fits=Year:2016|Model:Civic&hash=item3446cad17b:g:r4IAAOSwBRFg5rVN
That’s the one! I got mine at Summit Racing for under $70 each
