265/40 will rub for sure. 255/40 rubs the tiniest amount on big dips but is fine 99.9% of the time

also 265/40 looks kind of goofy, I saw a pic once and it’s too much tire
265/40

No shade to the owner, just not my cup of tea

Hi All,
I bought some 57dr 18x9.5 et 38 offset for my stock suspension Type R.
I was wondering if anyone was running the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06plus at 265/40/18?

My car is full bolt on and has a custom tune pushing around 400hp. I was wondering if I should go 265/40/18 or 255/40/18?
I live in the Seattle Greater Eastside and don't drive into Seattle. I think the roads are relatively fine.
Just concerned about rubbing.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I couldn't find someone with this specific set up after reading for like 2 hours. Maybe my search skills just suck too.
This dude is running 265/40 on Swift springs and his car looks absolutely dope!

I was told 255/40 won't rub on stock suspension.

I have that size on 18x9.5” wheels with +38 offset. Driving on a downhill road near me, while driving through a turn in the road, that dips at the bottom (confusing I know) I get a small amount of rub up front. It’s most likely the fender tab in the front and it’s very minimal. I will be clearancing it this weekend. Don’t think I’ve ever heard rub in the back.

it will a little bit, I ran the same exact spec 57DR on 255/40 and it would rub on big dips and hard turns. I could peel the rubber chips off the inside of the side marker. I still run 255/40 though, it’s not bad at all

Hmmm, thanks for the heads up. Maybe I will rethink things. I have no interest in any rubbing. I already have the tires (Firestone Indy 500) and was planning the 57DR.

TE37OG 18x10 +41 up front (came with Michelin PS4S 265/35 R18), and CE28 CRII 18x9.5 +38 in the rear (with Continental DWS06 255/40 R18). Stock suspension.

so I ended up getting continental extreme contact dw0s6 plus 255/40/18 put on my 57dr 18x9.5 et 38 and had a 6ft 5 coworker with me in the passenger seat, and two coworkers in the back and in R mode rubbed just slightly in the rear on the highway with an insignificant dip. Should I be concerned long term? It's on stock suspension. Generally it's just 2 people max in the car and occasionally a 3rd person. Don't think I've noticed any rubbing when it's just me in the car even in comfort mode

Nah, I’ve been running this setup for 15k miles, only have minor rubbing with no significant wear to the fender lining or anything
