Is their anything stopping me from modifying the stock airbox from using this? Spending all that extra money on the HVI from PRL just doesn't add really that much benefit to me for the price. Almost every test indicates that the stock airbox is superior and does a fantastic job. I would rather spend my money elsewhere. I just added the Hiflo filer and it sounds great with just the PRL intake hose. Let me know your thoughts.

The OEM MAF housing size becomes a restriction when you push big numbers. It maxes out the voltage. Meaning the ECU cannot see or meter the air correctly. If it doest meter the air correctly it wont add the correct fuel. The PRL HVI has a slightly bigger housing compared to OEM that alone give you some room.

That depends of your goals , if you’re FBO, stock or don’t planing to go over 400 whp you will be fine , also if is just for noise just keep the oem air box , I had mine just heat wrapped and I got 412whp 425 wtq but it was maxed out , with another intake with larger maf housing I can get more , @kc20c1 he already explained the reasons why .

Seems like it would be very difficult to modify the stock box to adapt the larger MAF housing. I looked into this very quickly as I was thinking the same thing but the housing on the stock box is fully built into it.

If someone could just 3D print a basic top with the 3.5 inch opening in the side and sell them that would be awesome.

Uyyy that’s going to be veryyy difficult ?, I’m the guy who used to try a lot of mods ,and I’ve done a lot of crazy mods but I don’t think that’s a good idea, is going to be easier to try in a different intake like the Mishimoto maybe?
