Radiator fan only switches on when disconnected?? ‘16 Lxp

Wrecked the car and had to replace bumper, support, condenser, and radiator.. capped everything off and the fan never turned on but didn’t seem damaged. Then when I disconnected the wire to the fan while the car was only powered on without the engine running the fan turned on for 5sec and shut off. Plugged it back in and nothing.. unplugged it again and it started running for 5sec then shut back off.. Any help??

Switched supplies like that usually give a path to ground. Could be your fan is grounding out somewhere?

hmm that may be.. I was told to test and/or replace the fan relay but not sure how to go about that. Cars been sitting for 3 weeks with a full tank..

Just have to find where it is. You apply 12v across the small part of the relay and see if you get continuity across the other two connectors on it.
