I'm a little late here, but if anyone is curious about detectors, your best bet is always Uniden. The R1, R3, R7 are all slam dunks, depending on what features you want. If you're on a budget you can't beat the DFR6, 7, 8, or 9.

That is all. Thanks!
I was actually going for an R7 when I got my 360c.

Our system said we had one but it was nowhere to be found so I sent the extra to get the one we had.

I have a Radenso XP, factory settings. It does extremely well at filtering Ka-band, except for Mazda's blind spot monitoring. It sucks at filtering K-band from semi's satellite systems. Range is great, almost too good because I'll look around and drive for a bit and think, "must be a false alert," then there's a cop up ahead.

My Valentine 1 was doing the same. it would let me know where every Escalade, Mazda SUV, Tahoe, etc was. It's due to the crash warning systems they added to them a few years back. I sent my V1 off to Valentine and they updated it and now it's okay. If there is a firmware upgrade for your radar I would look into updating if possible.

Not sure if you're replying to me or not, but I get notified of every firmware update and update it promptly.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well priced the R7 and R3 were on Amazon.

Currently the R7 is $420

R7

And the R3 is $269

R3

Both prices are incredibly competitive to both Valentine and Escort.

For me, it was a toss up between the V1 gen 2 and the R7. But seeing as how the Valentine needed to be paired with your phone to maximize its capabilities, I decided to opt for the R7, that and its better pricing. I already run Waze and Spotify off my phone while I drive, I didnt want to have to add additional apps to it.

Uniden R7 over passport any day.. Passport more of plug n play setup..yes it’s nice passport will pay for your first ticket but most people dont realize they sell your information to third parties. Read between them fine lines and 2 point font. Last time I checked Uniden working on new firmware that is going to be released soon, major improvements.

Iirc Uniden is working on getting multiple features added including GPS based autolockouts which is a massive hurdle to clear as Escort currently holds the patent which goes out into the 2030s apparently. There is also a pending lawsuit by Escort for Uniden on this.

I’ve been using the Valentine Gen 2 and after it learned the area it’s amazing, definitely recommend. I pair it with the V1 Driver app they use as well. Good distance as well!

Using Uniden R3. Almost zero issues, except for 2 random Laser false alerts. It's been catching Ka, half a mile to a mile out. Have had zero false BSM readings or any of the sort.

The nice thing about Waze is its compatibility with Android Auto and its ability to be displayed on the nice large screen we have, but the limitations to Waze its that its only as good as the people who are willing to input hazards and cops on it.

Most of the time its spot on for me.

I legit know cop friends that put themselves in on the app where they are sitting. I think you have nothing to worry about.

slow down, use Waze, and you don’t need a radar detector.

Again, Waze is only as good as the people who use the app.

Just because your friend puts himself on Waze doesnt mean that its the standard across board.

The best way to do it, is to treat it the same way you would treat security, and thats layering. You wanna rely on free app to let you where where cops are more power to you.
