Question:

I'm thinking about purchasing a radar detector, I just wanted to know any recommendations and reviews about the radar detector.

I'm wondering, would there be any problem with the Civic's own radar signal returning from the car in front with ACC or collision mitigation?

on multiple recs I recently bought a RedLine and although the civic doesn't set it off the equipped cars around you will..you get used to it.

So how do you tell the equipped cars around you from police radar, other than using your eyes? Can you tell the difference by the detector's response?

RedLine will advise you if multiple signals detected...I really like traveling with it.

Look into Valentine. They even have a cord that plugs into the OBDII port for permanent installation.

I have a Cobra. It shows what band is bring detected, and has a different sound for each. Around here, Ka and POP will be police, K (unless high strength or rate of detection) is other cars, and X is garage doors/commercial microwave ovens/automatic doors.

I hardly ever get falses from other cars. I just change lanes, let a few cars pass me, or pass a few- I can usually figure out which car it is. More often than not, they have a commercial tracking system (delivery vehicle or company car), or their own detector.

My first detector would go off like crazy around cars with lane guidance and collision mitigation systems.

I got a great deal on an Escort 9500ix a couple of years ago and it has done an awesome job.

Old thread, but if you're still in the market for a radar detector (or even still here on CivicX) I have been happy with my Beltronics Pro 200. It's not as fancy as the Valentine 1 but it is also less than half the price. Performance from the Beltronics Pro 200 has been great over the years for me.

Any update on 2020 radars recommendation that people are happy with and are pretty accurate?

I bought a Uniden R7 when I was hunting for something to get and narrowed it down to a few and then ended up buying that one. It's been really good with a little tweaking of the settings and ranges and other things but honestly saved me much more than it's cost. I would really recommend it if having a radar detector is something you want to do. It suffers from some of the same false alert issues that come with having one but it's really good at catching KA bands from a distance and pretty much in any aspect that I've encountered so far.
