I just check it yearly or so (depends on how dusty your environment is),and change it as needed. I like my good HVAC flow. In Hondas, it's so easy to do (the longest step of the process is to empty the junk in the glove box... then putting it back) that I never let the stealership touch it.

Have you ever changed out a cabin filter?

Mine was absolutely filthy when I changed it at 30k kms.

Ok, fine, I will look into changing mine! Is that an OEM one for $20 and did you get it at the dealer? Also, how do I change it, I mean is it in the manual by any chance? I had an Accord for 10 years and never changed it in that, perhaps I should have?!

$20 bucks at Honda Stelership I don't like aftermarket filters which I'm sure you can find on Amazon. It took longer to empty my crap out of the glove box then change it out. If you want to challenge yourself and save time leave your crap in glove box and release the tabs. I also did a reach around and installed it from the drivers side. Or have a Honda technican do it for you for 150$. LOL, that's my favorite joke.

Not every car has a cabin air filter. There are some 10th gen civics with and some 10th gen civics without them.

That's news to me. I guess it's only the sedan LX.

Some people are not at all mechanically inclined. So I would not suggest they attempt to do their own repairs.
General maintenance like fluid changes and bulb replacements don't require mechanical inclination. Not being "mechanically inclined" is cop out. My 4 year old knows how to do an oil change he just can't crack the drain plug or filter loose.

I have a 17 Hatchback LX, I'm assuming mine has one?
My 16 does not. I would assume the LX don't get them.

Haven't you noticed how dusty it gets in the cabin?

You might want to watch a Youtube video to locate and replace your cabin air filter. It's there, or at least it should be. Trust me.
