Has anyone completely converted their front bumper cover to be a true quick release system? I’d like to use the parts from Quik Latch to eliminate the need for the Honda pop clips on top of the bumper cover and to snug up the bumper cover to the front fenders.

With a lowered vehicle and a chassis mounted / quick release splitter, the ability to remove the bumper cover quickly in order to remove the splitter and load the car onto a trailer more easily seems very beneficial.

I agree, this would be greatly beneficial to the platform and I can only find pics of fk7 on FB group page and nothing for our fk8's. I know forsure it worked well with my 8thgen civic!

Ken Suen posted this IG short vid of bumper removal on Type_R_Jose's time attack CTR. The car uses quik-latches under the side markers. You may need to remove some other stuff to make removal this easy but it should provide you some reference.

Found another owner that did this conversion. It's in the Facebook "Civic FK8 Type R Owners" group so you may need to join prior to being able to view it. He has a nice video of removal and details what he did. Quick notes on it;
  • Used M6 rivnuts in OE cooling plate cover push pin locations
  • Used 1.25" Quik-latches on both sides under the side markers
  • Removed the bumper clips under the headlights
  • Trimmed the fender liners so they no longer screw into the bumper

Thanks for this, super helpful as I'm about to have something similar done to mine.

Will do. My setup will differ as I won't be permanently mounting my splitter. It will be used to install/remove on track only as some of our roads here in Australia aren't forgiving enough!

So my guys will be working on a quick-release system for the bumper that allows me to get the splitter done in the pits easily enough.
