Hello everyone,
I puchased my 18 Si a month ago and I have a dumb question.
How many times do you have to press the push button start for the car to actually start ?
For me, its seems like sometimes I have to push it twice and sometimes three times.

How many times is it suppose to be ?

Thanks

I’m pretty sure you just need to push it once with the clutch in
I guess, if it doesn’t start with one push, something might be off

Mine has always been once. What happens when you press it and it doesn't start? Does it try to turn the engine over and fail or just goes into accessory mode? If it can't turn the engine over every time with one press you need to return to get some warranty work done. If it's going into accessory mode then grab your owner's manual and read up on how to put it into accessory mode vs starting the car.

Make sure your clutch and brake are depressed and it should only require one push.

I thought for SI models you need to push and hold the clutch while pressing the start/stop button?

From the manual;
Check that the shift lever is in (N. Then
depress the brake pedal with your right
foot, and the clutch pedal with your left
foot.
The clutch pedal must be fully depressed
to start the engine.

You shouldn't need more than one single press if your foot is on the clutch pedal. You can even be in gear.

Despite what the manual says, I never touch the brake to start my Si.
You can if you want to but it is def not a requirement to startup.
Everyday I get in, step on the clutch only, and press the button once to start, and that's it.

Should be foot on the brake in the CVT, and clutch in on the MT, then one press only.

For me, as long as the brake pedal is pressed, once is enough.

Yeah it goes throught accessory mode.

Most of the time it goes like this:
I push it once, some lights turn on
I push it a second time, it goes in accesory mode
I push it a third time and then it starts the car

Something isn't adding up, if you're not pressing the brake and clutch then the car should never start (not even on the 3rd time), if you are pressing the brake and clutch it should start on the 1st push. Unless there's some 'feature' to make it work like yours is then I'd say the dealership needs to take a look.

I have no idea what out of this world car your driving. All cars ony require brake push and one push of the button, not even holding it. Is this really a question people are arguing on overhere?
If it really is the way your describing it, something is obviously not right.
