Hello again. I bought a cracked taillight to pull apart and see what I might be able to do to mod it. I did buy a pair of Ghozt controllers but I’m at a lot of what I should do so I’m just looking for components now.

This was cracked in a few spots so this was just a test of how well it would come apart. This did not go well. I learned it will have to be precisely cut likely with a sonic cutter. I ended up getting it warmer than it should be. It started to be very impressionable but I was able to split it at its weld. This won’t happen under normal circumstances.

Any questions let me know.

Here are the pics for anyone interested. I also took a video and put it on YouTube.

Please check your messages. I want to know if the red part can be removed from the clear outer top shell?from your first picture.

Can you post photos or a video of how you pulled the red cover off the lights. Did you have to bake the lights or use a heat gun to remove the red lens?

I did it wrong. Forget removing it. You have to get a hot knife or a sonic cutter. Best to get a spare taillight maybe one that’s broken already and try. The lens doesn’t come off. It’s not glued. It’s fused. Unremovable. To open your need to try to cut it from the back and be super careful how you do it. I don’t know anyone that has taken the lens off of these. I’ve failed twice.

wow, seems lot more complicated than imagined. Excited to see what you come up with. I'd love to have some LED tailights, but aftermarket isn't cutting it for me.

I’ve given up of modding a stock set. I’m putting these in. They have two animations that can be changed once installed. I’ll post in a minute.

Thanks for getting back to me. Can you show in a picture where it’s fused at by highlighting the area?

I’ve never taken a picture of that. Look at the back of your lights. There’s a flat spot near the edge of the black where it nears the red. There’s some small marks like dots or hatching on it. It should be consistent all around the back just less that 1/4 inch in from the edge. It would be super difficult. It’s super close to the red on the opposite side outside and if you went just a little bit too far you’ll touch the lens on the inside and leave an ugly Marc you can’t get rid of.
