I heard a lot smaller number (like 900 units for US).
But I have a more serious question: shouldn't the plaque inside the car match the last digits of the VIN? or are they two completely different things?

out of 1500, 15% is allocated for US only??

Those production numbers are for the whole world, I assume. Still hoping for a very scarcity market in the US
Parts percentage in the vehicle, by country of manufacture, not distribution share.

Honda has never made the vin numbers have any bearing with individual numbering. My Integra type r number was way off from the vin it's all random. This why a registry is crucial if you want to try and find out numbers Honda will not announce how many they made just like the Us ITR there isn't anything official out there on speculation

Our question lies if the #1000 refers to USA cars or just total production world wide coming out of the plant?

In another words how many we are getting here so we can decided if it's a good idea to wait for CW or whichever..LOL.
The early stated number of MY2017 Civic Type R (CTR) for the USA was 1000 for 1044 dealers. Total MY2017 CTR for the world including the USA was 2500.
We should be able to "know the truth" shortly.

I think the vin number is already made by the millions and when the car come out from the factory they are randomly pick out of the bucket, but the production number badge should be in order of their produce
Expect just the opposite as the manufacturer is inventoried/taxed on the number of vehicles produced. The VIN is embedded in a number of places on the vehicle as in "numbers matching" for classic cars.

Spoke to a sales manager today and he said Honda confirmed news with him that the total count is 2000 Type Rs for this year's model.

Taken at an unknown location, you can see the production number plaque as well as the window sticker.

We Can also confirm the VIN's do NOT match the plaque.

How many do you think Honda will build for 2017 I'm guessing 1500?
