How important is it to have either ceramic coat or lava wrap on your downpipe? What about front pipe? I just installed my PRL downpipe and people are saying I should have at least wrapped it.

From PRL themselves:

We do not recommend wrapping exhaust pieces, as the wrap tends to retain heat in the pipe/tubing instead of allowing it to escape. Though our products are back-purged and the castings are extremely beefy, this increases the risk of weld/material failure. The factory heat shield should be enough, or we recommend looking into a true ceramic coating if you're extremely concerned.

Just finished my installation of ceramic coated PRL catted Downpipe + Frontpipe + PTP turbo hat. Very satiesfied with the result both mechanically and with the but-dyno =)
The spool and acceleration comes much faster after throttle is given, Power wise it is better but you can feel the oem ecu struggling. One pull is high boost another can be slightly lower and power difference is easy to spot.
I used a extension cord for the 2:nd oxygen sensor. 2 days of driving and no CEL or fault codes.
So far Im running oem cat back, sound is slightly darker but almost no difference to stock DP+FP.

Sorry but i am confused now....i am looking at getting the downpipe. I am in Canada and emissions aren't tested so i am on the fence to get catted or not. Anyway, i currently do have a K-Tuner and i am basically looking to get this installed and not have any issues. With the V2, is it basically plug and play without throwing a code? I have read the posts, but i can't seem to understand.

You will need a tuning solution to turn off the CEL code

catless dp gives you more hp, and i wonder if catless would even reduce the heat a bit since the exhaust can flow better and faster.

@PRL is there any down pipe blanket available that is a direct fit for your cat-less DP?

Our Downpipes allow you to use the factory heat shields, however we can gladly ship your pipe to Jet hot for a coating. You would need to contact them and purchase the coating and shipping from them to you in the end.

Thanks! I've already been ceramic coated. I was looking to double up on the heat prevention under the hood.
