Man that AFe filter looks like it has less surface area than the OEM one... hope it flows good compared to the stock filter... but I wonder how it compares to a K&N drop in? @PRL Motorsports

*Not an AFe ;) The factory filter does have a bit more surface area than our drop-in. However, sometimes more restrictive surface area is not always better than less better-flowing surface area. Our oiled filters are constructed from high quality, double layer cotton to increase the filtration surface by 10% - 15%. This causes air to move freely while maintaining superior filtration, trapping particles as small as 5 microns. The cotton filter is encased by coated steel mesh to ensure our air filter withstands the toughest of conditions! Each filter is hand-molded using a flexible rubber base to ensure an airtight seal and absorb vibration. These filters do not use pressure-molding like other manufacturers, which can cause the rubber to seep into the filter element blocking airflow by up to 25%. Our air filters utilize a precision four-step process to virtually eliminate rubber seepage and maximize airflow.

I think I think just longevity.
The CVT cooler will aid in transmission longevity which will be crucial when adding power with mods. Reducing CVT temps is key!

We gathered some data with our Street stock-size MAF housing and put together a few graphs for you guys.

Civic%20x%20L.trim%20stock%20intake%20and%20stock%20tune_zpskkzb36fg.jpg

Above is a graph of the long term fuel trims with the stock intake w/ air box and factory ECU mapping, or in other words a bone-stock car.

Civic%20x%20L.trim%20PRL%20intake%20and%20stock%20tune_zpsfqmhgzzt.jpg

Here is a graph of the long term fuel trims again with, but with our cold air intake (Street MAF) and factory ECU mapping.

Civic%20x%20L.trim%20PRL%20intake%20and%20Hondata%206psi%20tune_zpsvk4gipc4.jpg

This is another long term fuel trim graph, but with our cold air intake (Street MAF) and +6psi Hondata off-the-shelf map.

Notice how consistent and similar all of the LTFT graphs are. Each graph is within -4 LTFT.

Civic%20x%20S.trim%20stock%20intake%20and%20stock%20tune_zpsswmv0ane.jpg

Above is a graph of the short term fuel trims with stock intake w/ air box and factory ECU mapping (stock car).

Civic%20x%20S.trim%20PRL%20intake%20and%20stock%20tune_zps1mnt3fck.jpg

Here is a short term fuel trim graph with our cold air intake (Street MAF) and factory ECU mapping.

Civic%20x%20S.trim%20PRL%20intake%20and%20Hondata%206psi%20tune_zpscqlf4ni0.jpg

This is another graph of the short term fuel trims with our cold air intake (Street MAF) and +psi Hondata off-the-shelf map.

All of the STFT graphs display identical curves and consistency.

This data shows that our attempt to create an exact replica of Honda's factory MAF housing worked extremely well; we couldn't be any happier! We are confident proud to announce that our cold air intake system with the Street MAF housing is a direct bolt-on intake system with no tuning required! This is the first and CAI/SRI that we have EVER offered that doesn't require a tune. The beauty of this intake system is that customers can upgrade to our larger Race MAF housing to make more power in the future without having to buy a completely new intake system. We no longer have a shop EX-T for dyno testing, so we will continue dyno testing on our new shop Si as well as hand the Race MAF intake system over to @VitViper for his consensus whenever we are finished!

cool...when you install it do you need to flush and replace the cvt fluid or basically just fill the cooler?

The current cooler is on top of the trans. You'll have minimal loss from the hoses and then whatever is in the cooler itself. You'll need more fluid than stock capacity after this upgrade I'm sure...
