Could I drop in another turbo with this kit? G25-550?
  • GT2860RS w/ .64 A/R Housing = Great Spooling (comparable to the GTX2860R GEN2), bang-for-the-buck turbo for customers staying under 25 PSI and 350 whp.
  • GT2860RS w/ .86 A/R Housing = Lazy and inefficient
  • GTX2860R GEN2 w/ .64 A/R Housing = Best spool and power-band, recommended up to 500 whp
  • GTX2860R GEN2 w/ .86 A/R Housing = Slightly lazier than the larger GTX2867R GEN2 w/ .64 A/R Housing
  • GTX2867R GEN2 w/ .64 A/R Housing = Spools slightly better than the smaller GTX2860R GEN2 w/ .86 A/R Housing
  • GTX2867R GEN2 w/ .86 A/R Housing = Extremely lazy
  • GTX3071R GEN2 = Extremely lazy but recommended for big (550+ whp) builds. Additional fueling, power-adders (nitrous), 8,000+ RPM rev-limit and/or standalone ECU recommended to take full advantage of this turbocharger
Those are the turbochargers the kit is designed to work with. Please email our tech team: [email protected] they will be able to determine if the G25-550 is compatible or not. The biggest issue will most likely be fitment and the proper clocking for the wastegate bracket.

May I recommend you consider a diet and exercise plan for your lazy turbos? Need to get them in shape one way or another.

@PRL Motorsports @Two Step Performance what do you think the tsp built motor (balanced crank, Saenz performance rods, J.E Pistons) port and polished head Brian Crower titanium springs, would redline safely too? If im not mistaken, @MAPerformance ran their car at 8k stock. Id like to do 12k ideally to be able to spool those bastards without any power adders besides e85, but on stock cams... realistically i feel like 9k is where the safe point would be. Care to chime in?

Your head is the limiting factor. I think 12k is unrealistic. Even 8k may prove to be a waste of time with stock cams. The low 7k range is common with larger turbos, especially if springs and retainers have been upgraded.

why not? Its a 1.5L it would need to be a high rev-er. That being said yes 12k is way excessive but would be cool none the less

Even the gtx2860r .64 runs out of steam past 7400rpms.

You'll want cams, upgrade fueling, motec added to your list if you want more then 8k. And possibly a gtx2867r .86 or a 3071 to make use of the top end.

I guess I should have mentioned that with a Motec and port injection to compensate for the fuel. basically with everything needed including a high rev limit could you even make use of the 3071 or will it still not really spool without power adders.

have you seen the cylinder head on this engine? Its meant for 40mpg and hardly turns to redline in stock form. you want to double the rpm limit?

cool yes, but if you want 12k rpm f1 sounds, buy a crotch rocket.

Alright last question for now. Will prl big turbo kit work with the g25-550/660 ? Little modification here n there or just not at all? And just do a full custom job with my shop?

The electric waste gate mount isnt designed for G series, and slight down pipe adjustment and the intake coupler will need to be custom, make it out of aluminum, would be nicer anyway..

They/PRL wouldn't sell me a kit without a turbo when i had my SI because why not use the latest and greatest turbo.. I wasn't going to buy a turbo i didn't want.
