the gen 1 gtx2860r disco potato just has a much higher choke point than the gt2860 (for the most part, it depends on the housing, chra bearing build, etc, but if you look at the garrett compressor maps that is what you'll see). the gen 2 gtx2860r is where you will big gains over a vanilla disco at the same same exhaust pressure.
i would be very surprised if they aren't testing on larger injectors and simulating factory fueling for package testing experiments and running ethanol blends on the larger injectors for peak power measurements. this is the same approach i am taking with my project car (ie, not the honda) and that most of the turbo builders i know use in testing (with a spare block for every car they're testing on)
