the gen 1 gtx2860r disco potato just has a much higher choke point than the gt2860 (for the most part, it depends on the housing, chra bearing build, etc, but if you look at the garrett compressor maps that is what you'll see). the gen 2 gtx2860r is where you will big gains over a vanilla disco at the same same exhaust pressure.

i would be very surprised if they aren't testing on larger injectors and simulating factory fueling for package testing experiments and running ethanol blends on the larger injectors for peak power measurements. this is the same approach i am taking with my project car (ie, not the honda) and that most of the turbo builders i know use in testing (with a spare block for every car they're testing on)

Waiting to see what turbo Eman chose!
GTX2867 Gen 2. Looking at the power curve that he posted, it honestly resembles a turbo 8th gen, but without the 8K RPM red line. Very low power on the low end (<100 hp by 3000 RPM), climbing to decent power in the mid-range, and crazy power on the high end. He also raised his redline to around 7K RPM.

That said, I have to wonder how fun it would be to drive in non-racing conditions, considering that the low end power has been completely gutted and the stock engine can't rev to the moon anymore.

I think that turbo is going to be more well suited for track use. I wonder which exhaust housing he is using. Probably the larger one?

i think the 2867 is too big for this motor. if it had a head and internals that could spin up to 8k without destroying itself, you could take advantage of the upper end of the compressor map, but without the exhaust pressure to take advantage of the upper end of the curve, you're effectively tossing in a 2860 at higher cost and higher lag.

otoh if you have a bored out built motor and ported head, you could push enough power with the 2867 to retain drivability and twist the chassis in half at high rpm...

Well the built motors are right on the horizon. So we'll find out soon enough

@PRL Motorsports I think I saw somewhere you guys are switching to motec for a ECU. Are you running into limitations with the stock ECU?

Torque tables and limited fueling probably. The honda ecu interpolates everything.

Also VE changes significantly with any changes to the internals, and standalones seem to be the way to go when VE changes on most modern cars that do extensive sensor reconstruction using baked in curves

Got this update from customer service a couple weeks ago:

"We are currently working on packaging up clamps, silicone, hardware bags and whatnot as we speak. All components aside from coolant lines and downpipe castings are here in our location getting ready for packaging. With that being said, coolant lines and castings are scheduled to arrive towards the end of the month, which means we can begin welding up downpipes and wrapping up kits once received.

Early November is looking very promising for shipment ETA."

We apologize for the slow delays on the kit, it's been hard to find time to snag pics and set things up for you guys. Please don't worry though, we've been busy moving forward with packing up components and kits! :) As of now all components are here and in the final stages of packaging aside from downpipes. Upper and lower downpipe castings are scheduled to arrive shortly and will then need machined, fabricated and welded up to ship kits. Here's a sneak peak of what customers can expect to receive (minus downpipe).

We have tested quite a few different ethanol blends, mapping, the GT2860RS, GTX2867R GEN2 and now the GTX2860R GEN2. The engine is pretty much at max potential until we can get past the MAP sensor limitation and fueling limitations.

Eman has the GTX2867R GEN2 and small .64 A/R housing, the 67 is just that lazy on this small 1.5L motor. We feel that the 2860's are the optimal solution for street guys, but for Eman that is going to pushing the limit racing, the 67 makes sense. We feel that these cars truly need a camshaft upgrade to make the most of anything larger than a 2860.

Well the built motors are right on the horizon. So we'll find out soon enough
We do have a CSS machined block and JE pistons here awaiting our rods to come back from Crower to assemble for backup. The rods are going to be the first weak point. We also have Crower valve springs, retainers and locks to install for safety, but the factory cams are already a limiting factor. We really need a camshaft solution to make the most out of upper RPMs.

@PRL Motorsports I think I saw somewhere you guys are switching to motec for a ECU. Are you running into limitations with the stock ECU?
We do have a MoTeC setup here for when we are ready to push things to their maximum potential, but we would like to retain the factory ECU and KTuner as long as possible to help keep developing and pushing this platform for the community. We understand that most customers will never choose to go MoTeC, so it doesn't make sense for us to abandon ship on a project that still has potential and appeals to the community.

Thanks for the update!

Long term, it would be nice to know whether you can build the 1.5 longblock for big power or whether we should be looking for k20t motors out of crashed accords..
