The PRL Motorsports Turbocharger Inlet Crossover Pipe Kit is a direct bolt-on upgrade that eliminates airflow restriction before the turbocharger, allowing the turbocharger to operate more efficiently. Our design utilizes a cast aluminum inlet piece to allow smooth transition from the gasket-matched 64mm ID compressor inlet to a 78mm ID oulet throughout the crossover pipe. (Crossover pipe material is currently pending between Titanium, Carbon Fiber or Thermal-coated Aluminum.) This kit offers a 50-56% (pending material used) increase in airflow volume in comparison to the factory inlet pipe!

Compatible with factory intake system, factory location intake systems and PRL Motorsports High Volume Intake System.

Kit Includes:
  • Cast aluminum inlet piece
  • Crossover pipe
  • High-temp 4-ply silicone coupler(s)
  • 304 stainless steel interlocking worm clamps
Pricing and availability of this kit will be announced via our social media as we progress forward with material sourcing and revisions. A rough time frame on having this product to market is approximately Fall 2019.

Will this work with an intake crossover blanket?
With the alternate material and/or coating there will be no real need for a blanket on this item. If you choose to add one it cant hurt though, it's your choice either way.

Our cast piece was designed to be gasket matched. Here is a comparison to the stock inlet pipe to visualize just how much 50% increased airflow volume our cast section is over stock!

A little update on the inlet crossover pipe, after mocking up a 3D printed piece we fit and welded a prototype piece. Fitment was tested and confirmed, this was used to make a jig for titanium production pieces. The last picture shows what we're shooting for with our pie cuts. We will be dyno testing this week with both the stock intake, stage 1 intake, and high volume intake!

This is currently up for debate. At this time we can assure the community that this will be compatible with the factory air box and our High Volume Intake System.

Earlier today we had time to put together our Turbocharger Inlet Pipe testing data for the ‘R community, so here’s the breakdown.

Testing Car:
Shop 2017 Honda Civic Type-R
KTuner (“Stock” Map and Stage 1 Map tested) on 93 Octane pump gas
PRL Motorsports Turbocharger Inlet Pipe
PRL Motorsports High Volume Intake System
PRL Motorsports Intercooler
PRL Motorsports Race Downpipe / Front Pipe Combo
GReddy Supreme Catback Exhaust System

As per our usual testing methods, we chose to use KTuner’s “Stock” mapping and Stage 1 mapping to provide data/results that the average customer can expect to see without custom tuning. These runs are be compared to the same vehicle with same modifications aside from the Turbocharger Inlet Pipe in identical weather conditions. All runs were started at identical run conditions such as coolant temp and air temp. The results are as follows:

Stock Map:

Very minor gains at peak (1 horsepower and 3 ft/lb torque) are seen here when comparing Run 2, however, much larger gains down low can be seen. 15-20 horsepower and 25+ ft/lb torque can be seen from 2700 RPM – 3700 RPM.

Run 4 provides us very similar gains (4 horsepower and 3 ft/lb torque) at peak, but these gains carry much better throughout the rest of the power band here. Again, 20-30 horsepower and 30+ ft/lb torque gains can be seen from 2700 RPM – 3700 RPM.

Stage 1 Map:

Stage 1 Map testing showed us similar gains to the “Stock” Map. Minor gains at peak (horsepower can be dismissed due to the large dyno spike, but 5 ft/lb torque) can be seen, with gains again from 2700 – 3700 RPM when comparing Run 2.

Again, Run 3 showed us major gains from 2700 RPM – 3800 RPM, with a bit more promise throughout the upper powerband.

In conclusion, notable bottom-end/spool gains have been seen with our Turbocharger Inlet Pipe Kit. We expect these gains to be even greater on the street/track due to increased load. Larger gains can be expected on higher output engines that require more airflow, which is why we primarily designed this product. Cars equipped with a custom tune and/or turbocharger upgrades will benefit from this modification even greater, which leads us into our next test subject…

Oh, and here’s a sneak peak of our Ti Inlet Pipe. Production quality and installed pics coming shortly!
