Welp, we planned to keep this under wraps for a few more days until we have a better idea of an ETA (we know this is going to be the next question ), but here's some teasers of our newest revision to the air box mold.

We are very satisfied with the newest revisions and have decided to move forward with air box production. As stated earlier, most other components are already here and ready for assembly. Our first full batch of billet MAF housings just arrived from anodizing last week. The community can expect to receive an ETA with a pre-order date VERY soon.

Why didn't we rush to the market with this system earlier? Here are two pictures of some of the issues our first prototypes were experiencing. Please excuse the blurry cellphone quality:

^These cosmetic issues (as well as some slight shrinkage) simply weren't acceptable to us or for this community. Our goal is to provide the highest quality in terms of performance and appearance as possible. For these reasons, we went back to the drawing board and used this as a learning experience. As a company from machining and fabrication roots, the rotomolding process is rather new to us, especially with such required precision and detail. This entire project has been a learning curve, but in the end we are extremely satisfied with the results. :)

can i ask a non eta question lol.

Do you have any plans to make a duct or something for an additional source of air from the cover on the side? or is this something i'd have to fab myself.

Has the shape/size/position of the opening for the filter on the front changed from earlier versions? I was just comparing to older pictures and it looks different somehow.

Very much looking forward to this! Working on getting the Cobra from my SI sold so that I can get this one!

Sure thing!

We do not have any plans on offering an additional air source. The factory air duct has proven to work rather well.

The shape/profile is the same as before. However, front seam(s) of the air box have been changed a bit to allow a more aesthetically pleasing finish.
Awesome, that's what we like to hear. We're excited to get these out for you folks! :)

Can’t wait! Sign me up for the pre order! Looks a lot better. Only thing I think would look nice is if the PRL logo on top was white. I might try to cut a custom decal for it, just that extra lil pop. Also the logo engraved on the maf housing. If it was done after anodizing it would have that extra pop.

Thanks for your feedback! We thought about something like this as well, though, quite a few people (especially on the 'R market) love the sleeper look, so we kept everything pretty stealth. The logo engravement may be doable, though. I'll forward this message to the machine side!

I love that this intake will be super affordable relative to others. Are there any plans for a limited run of optional carbon air boxes for an upcharge?

jinderC

I am glad PRL are taking their time to make this as perfect as possible.
The price is very reasonable... no one here has a right to complain

Looking forward to placing my order soon

Keep it stealth!

How is the wiring managed compared to the stock box that had the clips on it?
