Does PRL Cobra Race MAF require a custom tune?
Can I run it with hondata basemap...
I want to hang on the custom tune until all my mop are done.
Thanks

"This intake is both configurable for street and race applications and comes with 2 maf housings to do so. The street housing should require no changes to afm calibration, however the race will need further adjustments to work properly. Current state of the vehicle was stock aside from the addition of a Hondata Flash Pro, GM Flex Fuel Sensor, and a reflashed ecu running our OTS +6psi Ethanol basemap"

From PRL website.

A ktuner/hondata will net the best results for the race version.

According to @PRL Motorsports , yes. "The street should require no changes to AFM, however the race will need further adjustments to work properly"

I am currently in the process of getting the Cobra with race maf + Ktuner v2.

I believe @KTuner has a tune/setting for this specific CAI.

i just installed my cobra with a race maf, without proper tuning and it runs like shit. the power delivery is inconsistent and sluggish. i’m also running MAP’s k-tuner base map. it’s driveable and smooth, until you do pulls. i just bought a tune to fix this, just waiting for the e-mail

Both Hondata and KTuner have basemaps for the PRL Race MAF. You can also get TSP Stage 1 that is calibrated for Race MAF for like $70.

I got the race MAF using the Ktuner base map w/ race MAF. Works fine.

This is good to hear. I also just bought the race MAF PRL kit but haven’t installed it yet. Going to wait until I get my state inspection in a couple weeks. Was hoping I didn’t make a mistake getting the race instead of street. I have a KTuner v2

you are all correct, you will need a tune (which is now a calibration offered in the tuning solutions) to be able to run our Race MAF version as the air flow volume is 50% larger than the street and will net you an additional 4-8hp over the street as well :)

Is this true in basically stock configuration? I only have a KTuner for mods on my car.

Will be installing the race intake in the next few weeks.

Yes, you will still need a custom tune, as long as you have ktuner you'll be fine.

Thanks

I just use the built in KTuner tunes and change some of the quick adjustments. I do see the race MAF option there so I should be ok right?
