Thought I'd pass it along. Here in SoCal, looking for a brake fluid exchange for a 2016 Civic EX, 6 dealers near me:

Quoted over the phone/internet:
119.95
129.88
139.95
141.95

Coupon price on the website:
141.99
169.99

The two cheapest also had the best deals on oil changes.

I know a good independent shop in Garden Grove that probably will beat that price. Thank you for sharing.

Just get one of those hand operated vacuum pumps from Sears and a can of DOT 3/4 and do it yourself. ($40 for pump and $8.00 for brake fluid).

In terms of difficulty, this would be a solid "2" on a scale of 1-10 (10 being an engine rebuild and 1 being washing your car). Add a .5 if you have a manual because the clutch shares the same master cylinder reservoir.

This is something you can do in the parking lot of an apartment complex, etc. without getting anyone annoyed.

Actually I tried this, works fine with the front but the rear brake fluid will not go out this way. I think it may have something to do with abs system. Only way to get fluid out from rear brakes was to use the brake pedal. https://www.amazon.com/Allstar-Perf...=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=brake+fluid+diy I’d recommend this for one person job as it can do the fronts and the back.
