Completely forgot to update this post after the issue was resolved. Turns out my engine prop was vibrating when I'd left off the gas causing the sound to resonate throughout the car. Part was replaced and the sound is gone. Sooo relieved it wasn't a serious problem. Thanks for all the responses!
