Popping, cracking sound from speakers

So about a week ago, I turned my Civic-Touring 16' on and I heard some popping/cracking sound from the front/door speakers. I kinda ignored it, and it happened again two days after. This morning I turned on the car, and there is no sound from the side speakers. I contacted Honda and they told me, in a tone, that I probably blew the speakers, by listening to them too loud.

Has that happened to anyone ? Any ideas ?

Any help would be great, as Honda already blamed me.
