Started running my 6MT Sport on regular gas.

Can't report MPG yet, but initial impressions are that the peak torque seems about the same, but maybe it feels less sharp or responsive, more laggy or something. Maybe premium gives you a flatter torque curve?

Anyone else tried regular?

Ive driven half a tank on regular, and can report that i am getting identical gas mileage as 93 Octane, about 38.0 mpg on the same 90 mile round trip.

As for performance it's a little hard to say, it somehow feels snappier with 93 octane, but hard to put a number on it. Will have to wait til i go back to premium to be sure.

Remember - the primary benefit to higher octane is its anti-knock properties. It doesn't improve torque or horsepower unless you're getting knocking on regular. My other car has a high compression engine, and 91 or higher is mandatory.

Wilbur... this car (Sport) is tuned to get the stated horsepower only when using 91 octane or above. Regular will get you less power.

Did another 90 mile trip, mpg lower this time.

So on average it's about 1 mpg less w/ regular gas.

With no knock it will advance the timing a tad..I've been running 91 E0 mixed with 640:1 TCW-3 oil for over 4,000, runs perfect.

Anyone been running regular on their 'recommended' premium civic/hatch for a lengthy time so far?
