I've noticed lately (with the nice weather we've been having) that everyone and their grandmother has been trying to goad me into a straight line race while cruising around town/local highways. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see a point. Generally, it's either some supped up Camaro SS or Porsche GTS that I'd never have a chance against, or it's some little shit box 1996 Hyundai Tiburon that I'd dust without effort. Either way, it seems kind of pointless, no?

I know right. People just cant seem to get it through their head this is not a drag car or a first through second gear car or a straight line car. Unfortunately even owners of the car cant seem to accept that. This car was made to run at high speeds on a long track not for short bursts red light to red light. This is a top end car made to take curves or to (arguably ) do motocross. If people want a launch car and a 1/4 mile car they need to by Mustangs and Camaros.

Not just American Muscle cars try doing that. The other day some dick in a fairly new BMW 300(something) ran up behind me from nowhere and stuck to my bumper as I was doing the 35 mph speed limit. At the next light he was in the lane next to me one car length ahead. When we got the green he sat waiting for me to get even with him at which time he matted the Beemer and tore through the intersection. Funny thing was I was turning left! IDIOT!

Years ago my friend who rode a fancy Harley...small frame, large engine with a belt drive. One night while going home from work at a stop light a crotch rocket pulled up next to him, the guy looked over and said: "Belt drive huh? Big f--king deal!" When the light went green the dude blasted away from the light while Dave just sat there. The thing the idiot didn't notice was there was a cop car sitting directly behind him at the light! When Dave rode by as the cop was walking up to the crotch rocket guy Dave replied "Yeah, belt drive."

Racing stoplights is foolish and not worth it.

It happens. I just ignore them. Anyway they probably know they would fail miserably if I decided to unleash the beast

In 4 years of C6 Z06 ownership + 2 years of C7 Z06 ownership I've had 2 or 3 people try to race me.

In 3 months of Type-R ownership I've had at too many to count. At least 10+. It comes with the wing.
It’s definitely the gigantic speed racer wing.

The Type R is going to draw that kind of attention. It's almost like wearing a bright lime green and pink dress on and complain when people take notice. It's a very noticeable car and people are going to try you. It looks flashy and will attract attention. Or like having a beautiful girlfriend/handsome boyfriend but don't like it when people take notice and say something.

It's a beautiful car and it always grabs my attention. It's just one of the things that comes with the territory. I personally like taking the low road, sleeper look........at the track of course. :p

This is one of the reasons I removed the wing and red exterior elements, to draw less attention. I seldom have people try to race me at stoplights now. I’d rather have fun at the canyon and twisties, alone with the CTR or Miata. But that’s not for everyone, I totally understand.

I think my '69 Beetle could have beat my R off the line...
My track-day Miata would have toasted it.
She does take awhile to get up to speed - but - once she does - HOLY CRAP!

To each their own every car can be modified to suit any taste. For example my homeland PR, couple of Type R's are in the low 12s and there is 1 holding the title of the fastest one in the world correct me if I'm wrong it does 11.7s.

Today I learned that the Type-R is slow in stock form. What is your definition of "taking awhile" to get up to speed? The gas pedal is on the right, push that down.
