I just purchased the new Civic Si 2017. Absolutely amazed with the performance (and MPG). A big factor of the performance directly comes from the fact it's direct injection property. Since gasoline (and detergents) bypass the intake valve, wouldn't this vehicle benefit the most from a PCV Delete. I notice a thread for the type R for a catch can but from what I researched, this will not eliminate the problem of the intake valve carbon build-up; just only postpone the issue.

What are your thoughts? How negatively will this effect MPG. Any recommendation on after market PCV valves?

Thanks.

There's a white paper floating around that talks about Honda's approach using valve overlap. It's been reported that a very small amount of fuel flows past the intake valves and subsequently burns off the surrounding areas.

I'm hesitant to modify the PCV due to potential impacts to crankcase pressure. I'm waiting for Mishimoto and others to report on their findings first.

My 2 cents...

I will also add that when it comes to modded platforms, all bets are off.

My concerns are limited to stock configurations.
