I see both of you use AMD processors back in the nineties when I was building PCs for myself ( order most components from computer shopper the big book) I always used AMD processors I was told they were better than intel now Im a Mac guy
I go both way. after what Intel did through early 2010s, my money will go to AMD in the near future. Its also fun to watch an underdog taking on a giant thats 5 times bigger.

The times I've upgraded just usually coincide with AMD either having a good product or being on sale. I actually didn't want my current cpu but missed out on the 5000 series' launch day. Had to find something on short notice once I managed to snag a launch day gpu and already had my motherboard on hand. Came with a free game though, so there's that I guess.

It's hard to go wrong on today's hardware besides paying too much at the wrong time. I'm somewhat close to a Microcenter so there's always deals to choose from.

Still waiting for a 3080 to pop back up from EVGA. That's the only thing I need to complete my current setup.

Built a 5800x this weekend with a 3060. It's just mining in the garage for now. Using a MSI X570 Gaming Edge (shitty cheap mobo combo from microcenter on Amazon via purse.io) which is known for high VRM temps. To help mitigate that, using a 240mm AIO top mounted in a large tower which can handle a triple fan radiator, offset to the from of the case with a 140mm fan above the VRM's. I'll have to make a pcpartpicker build list for it.
