$700 just for a fuggin gfx card?

my xbox one x is looking like a damn bargain now. I guess I'll just stick with my dinosaur PC.

I hear you. I mostly game on my Xbox One X now myself. The mark up right now on GFX cards is crazy... The GTX 1070 (equivalent to the Xbox 1 X) currently sells for 599+. You can get the xbox 1 x for 399-499 depending on the vendor. Hell of a value comparatively.

New server I built with used parts I gathered up. Supermicro board with dual 4 core processors. Currently have 48gb ram installed but have 96 coming in soon. Host OS is ESXI running multiple Virtual Machines. Overkill for home, but it's also my test lab. I'm in the IT field so I have to be up to date on things.

Haha, the ram is coming from one of our plant server that was decomissioned. My manager actually asked if I wanted them before recycling it, I said Hell Yea! Yea VMs is the way of the future!

If anyone is local I have a few GPU's I can part with for less than they cost on eBay used. Three 1060, three 1070, three fermi Titan. Keeping my 1080ti for Oculus and 4k gaming.

I did the calculation online and it said i would only need a 500watt psu since it'll only be running a max of 300watts. I'll have to get a power meter to know for sure what the wattage it's running at, but for now it's been running fine for a month 24/7. The cpu's are running at 2.3 ghz each and 6 hdd aren't that much and only have 3 fans. I'll have to add more power once I get some more drives in it and plus this one looks uglyyyyyy.

How TF are you running all that with a 500w psu?

So i bought a Kill-a-watt plug and the Server + ap + 24port switch + 8 port switch is running at 270 watts at idle. At that rate, I'm looking at $22/month so it's not toooo bad.
