I realize we still have supply chain issues. Got my Subaru fixed last year, almost two weeks waiting for parts. My CTR broke down, it's the fuel pump. Dealership has had it for a month claiming they can't get the part! Is this reasonable?

Not sure where to go for resolution. Also it broke down about an hour from home so I can't easily pop in to pester them.

Look at your dealership's lot...

https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/honda-cut-car-output-by-up-40-japan-plants-supply-snags-2022-09-22/#:~:text=Honda blamed delays in receiving, minivan and Civic compact car.

Honda is having huge supply chain issues. Seems more so than other brands. Your only other option is to call other dealerships and see if you get another answer. But I don't see why the dealership would hold on to the car just to do so. Or see if you can source the part yourself and see if they would install?

Thanks for the suggestions. I called Honda America and opened a file, felt like a Karen! The way I see it:

1. Dealership sucks. I don't think so. They seem pretty good but service writers are overwhelmed.
2. Honda is having problems. Ok, that is not my concern. I haven't had my in warranty car for a month. I feel like I have lost a month of use and warranty.

I will look into another source, that is what Honda America rep said.

You opened a file? Honda legitimately is having huge supply issues. This has been going on for a while and there's no way this dealership would bs about part availability.

Worldwide issue. A driver hit the front of mine and damaged the bumper where the radar sits about 4 months ago. They ordered all the parts but the front parking sensors and splitter were on backorder. So they still have the car because of 1 or 2 parts. Seems like there's no date for the backordered parts as well.

Reasonable? Not in normal times. Imo opening with Honda is good, it puts a small amount of pressure on them to spend more money fixing their supply issues. It's not that Supply chain can't be fixed, but it takes money.

lol, I just saw a comment the other day where a guy had his car out for almost a year due to supply chain issues (CTR).

If this happened to me, id have my car back at home and id be putting in an aftermarket one instead of the OEM one.

Ive ordered parts online and fixed myself. Or you can use your warranty and let your type R sit at a dealer. Where nobody is gonna go on a joyride. 😉

I went to them a week back and said put all the new parts that have come and use my old parking sensors as they worked post accident. I'll hopefully be able to take the car later this week. I said when the sensor loom comes I'll just drop the car back to them for the time it takes to fit the sensors. Plus they get garage space back.

The sensor loom could come in a week but at the same time could be another few months. I also have to get the front re ceramic coated.

What does the parking sensor even do? Beep at you when you get too close? I'll never lower my car or have front splitter because I always go over the concrete stopping blocks in parking lots.

Last Wednesday I ordered a new MAF sensor. I stripped those damn tiny screws that attach to the Mishimoto MAF houseing. I wasn't about to start drilling and using a stripped bolt kit. Plus, my drill which I haven't used in 5 years, is dead. Both the batteries. So I said, F it, I'll order a new one to put into the PRL intake and keep the old one attached to the Mishimoto MAF housing.

I ordered it from PRL, good price. No tracking number yet. I contacted PRL and they said in stock items can take 7-10 business day and special hot items like badges can take longer. But they never said if it was in stock or not. It's weird, because I contacted my local Honda dealer, out of sheer reluctance. Parts guy was kind of an ass. Not surprised. But he said he can have the part in 2 days, but would cost double what I paid PRL. Annoying..
So I hope PRL comes through soon so I can install my PRL intake w/Race MAF and load the Phearable 1.5R w/PRL Race MAF tune.

I always record, now take a picture, of the odometer when I drop any car off. Even when I had that horrible Honda Fit

Picking my car up tomorrow, only 7 weeks . I feel lucky from what y'all said.

Thanks all who answered.

For future reference, I can't speak for other dealers but ours has been pushing more aftermarket parts with a district manager sign off in order to get customers back on the road. So like in the OP's case, we would have tried to put an aftermarket pump in the car and documented what we did and we would warranty the aftermarket part as if it was OEM.
