and god forbid if they have different plugs for each brand.
No fear: the electric car charging plugs will be soon all standardized to the award-winning 2015 Tartan Prancer design. It's the best, because Tartan Prancer is really a Honda (it's made in Europe, but it has Honda guts.)
And btw., the Prancer besides being an EV, has two fuel tanks, so it can also run on either gasoline or diesel, or all three at the same time.

Renault built a vehicle similar or was trying to this prancer back in the seventies and wasn’t very successful

It would probably start as a tax on gas engines first to try to force as many people as possible to use an EV as a daily with exemptions for very low annual mileage (for folks who have a track car or a classic). Eventually the exemption would be phased out and EVs would be taxed but at a lower rate. Government officials will of course be exempt, as always, and continue to be transported via giant luxury SUVs.

Electric cars have advanced over the last century since a 1911 Baker electric and a 1976 Citicar do to Tesla and auto makers personally as a car enthusiast I have no problem with electric cars. What’s everyones opinion on electric cars?
Not a fan. I know it will make the gasoline engine obsolete and relegated to museums in the very near future. But I cannot say goodbye to this, in my opinion one of the best sounding engines of all time...

Very nice video and I’ll agree that the best sounding engine. I’m sure in the future when electric motors will dominate the manufacturers will probably have simulated gas engine sound like a V8 featured in the vehicles aNd simulated shifting. It would be like a B rated seventies horror movie with a dubbed V8 sounding ford pinto :p

Man ! You hit the nail on the head with this statement and most likely that’s probably or will happen. I believe it should be a choice to either have electric or gas powered vehicles ( which it is now) but the the future well .... we’ll see. on a side note there are states that include your vehicle in the property taxes newer vehicles more older vehicles less

I don't like it but few put up a fight anymore. I don't want the ICE to go away or be forced out completely. There's no replacement for the real rumble of an engine.

My state is one. I could go off on a tangent about taxes but I won't. It'll just get me angry.

I’m sure it’ll be a long time for ICE vehicles to vanish but Volvo is eager to have electric powered vehicles by 2025 so they say. Funny fact in 1957 in Tulsa Oklahoma when they buried a 57 Plymouth Belvedere in a time capsule. They had a glass jug of gas and oil in the vault also thinking by the year 2007 when it was too be opened ( which it was) there wasn’t going to be gas powered vehicles in 2007 they also had instructions on how to operate the car as well

Its already happening here in Califu*kya. Rumors are running rampant on what our "little Hitler in hair gel" governor has in store for this state. Its already mandated no new sales of any gasoline or diesel powered vehicles in California come 2035. Talk of penalties or increase registration fees for older petroleum fueled cars, minimum $10.00 a gallon for gas, limits on how far you can drive a gasoline powered car etc, etc. All these and more idiotic proposals...

It is unfortunate that politicians have to dictate ( oops did I say dictate) and force socialist policies down every body throat we have the power to vote ................... well enough said on that subject ( if you know what I mean) with politics aside I myself would like to see more electric powered car but not taking away gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Petro powered cars are getting really great mileage per gallon now I owned a VW TDI Jetta 2003 can’t say much about the quality of the car but the fuel mileage was fantastic and diesel are burning a lot cleaner than years ago. That another thing people have to put in reality every thing is delivered by a diesel powered truck price of diesel go’s up everything go’s up . I would like to see a choice in power plants in car with electric power vehicles this might open up more auto manufacturers have better design cars or just make A typical electric powered square box white or grey( at least they would give you two color choices) and self drive ( that would also limit on where you can go and not ). this is a grey area where the future of automobile will head :dunno: We’ll see

I wasn’t alive during the addition of emissions control equipment in the 70s... and was too young to drive when leaded gasoline when out (though I remember regular vs unleaded)... but I wonder what the feelings were when leaded gasoline went into decline, emissions went in and tons of fuel conservation strategies went in effect that crushed powerful ICEs as we knew them as the 70s came to a close. I feel like some of that must be coming back with the decline of larger displacement engines... slews of smooth V6s in favor of torquey turbo 4s or V8s for twin turbo 6s.

While we’re talking, potentially, the outright replacement of ICE... it certainly went through one hell of a transition and managed to survive (not that there was any real alternative)... and ICEs are as good in whatever metric one would probably use now as ever, other than maybe simplicity and maybe even durability if you want to compare a low output-for-displacement port injection N/A engine vs a high output-for-displacement DI turbo engine (Ding Ding! Cue the K20C2 vs L15B7 crowd).

Whatever happens.... there’s over a billion ICE cars in the world. They represent an enormous investment in resources to make and money for people to buy and ICE car sales will exceed electric cars for the foreseeable future. I don’t see electric beating it for decades at least. Even if everyone today said they wanted to swear off gas and go electric there aren’t the cars available for people to buy.

I don’t see a time in my lifetime, and I have maybe 50 more trips around the sun at best, that we won’t see ICE on the road. Even if sales were to start to dominate in the latter 1/2 of this century (and I think they may... but it may be the far side of it when I’m dead and gone) there’ll still be piles and piles of ICE vehicles that are either still in use or will need to be turned over for material. Some folks will hold on to those cars as classics for another lifetime (and more) there may well be applications that ICE will always just kick electrics teeth in being able to do.

As much of a fan I am of the technology... it’s an uphill battle to dethrone a tried and true technology that has had a century of adoption and refinement. Electric cars a century ago were largely abandoned and electrics are going to have a lot of catch up to do. Whatever happens, given ICEs establishment and momentum is going to still be going on when we’re old men and foruming via IPhone-brain-implant-XLVs. Maybe electrics will be to ICE as the cell phone has been to the pay phone.

When I was a kid, I always had a quarter or 35 cents when I went out and never thought there would be a time I wouldn’t use a pay phone when I’m out. It took the new product being better though... and while electric cars have some advantages and neat quirks, I don’t see them as being “better” yet. If they were, by the metrics I care most about, I’d have one. If it wasn’t for their massive straight line acceleration one might dwell on them being overly expensive, slow to refuel, difficult to self-maintain/repair (albeit maintenance should be minimal), and range anxiety inducing, quiet-boxes to ride in. Having a $50k car that can do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and have room for my whole family is enticing. Take away the acceleration and its kind of a whole lot of money for a less convenient car.

Not a fan of Chrysler products ( if you can tell by many post I’ve posted on this site) but at least they have a pretty good idea of how electric vehicles should look like now and in the near future
