Anybody know if the L15B7 oil pump will work on a L15B1 as an upgrade?
Yeah, it will also work on a CRV or an Accord, because it's the same part.... why would the oil pump be different.

metal shavings will destroy any oil pump gears. Also, sludge will not break an oil pump unless the engine is running on sludge and even then. You'll block oil passages with sludge, leading to premature wear after the blockage.

Even if your guy that did the head gasket is a master tech, doesn't mean those 2-3 little metal shivings didn't fall in the engine somewhere and he didn't see them. Only a month on a new head gasket and the engine blows up, that'd be my first guess.
