Your pressures are a bit lower than normal. I just looked over Will’s data and he runs the dual HKS oil cooler kit with 0w-20 and has consistent pressure of 55-65 PSI.

Probably due to:

1. I'm not running an oil cooler
2. This is factory 0w20 oil. There are thicker 0w20 oils like Redline. Those are basically 5w30.

I'll try 5w30 next time and do another set of data logs.

Yea you would think his pressure would drop a bit though because of the oil coolers to. Maybe it was made up with lower temps? Idk some interesting data points for sure.

Definitely look at Motul 300v. Nolimitmotorsports sells it for 30 bucks a can with no tax and free shipping

Cooler oil is thicker so if Oil cooler works effectively it will theoretically Increase pressure by decreasing operating temps of fluid it is cooling. No need to buy a cooler until different grades arent tried first. Adding cooler or hardware is last resort, easier to adjust fluids. Temps and pressures are generally inversely related, as one is greater the other must be lower and viceversa. There is other things at play but for simplicity im assuming no one is putting w75 or w90 in engines (& @operating temps range 170-270f) slight variations W20-50 so that rule applies.

General rule of thumb since the “old days” has always been minimum of 10psi of pressure for every 1,000rpm. I’ve always tried to stick with that. My 1LE needed Rotella T6 5w40 and an oil cooler to maintain around 12psi per 1,000rpm on a summer track day. My Saleen on the other hand, had no trouble maintaining pressure on XPR 5w30.

in the Civic I’m currently running a 50/50 mix of Motul 8100 Eco-lite 0w20 and 5w30 year round.
