Something seems off. By this algorithm, the MM won't reach 0 until somewhere around 25-30K.

I suspect the oil was recently changed, or the MM was inadvertently reset.

but the MM is not linear. I've noticed when I get to 50% it starts dropping quicker and by 20% it drops very quickly to the recommended 10% "oil change needed now" level.

Mine is very linear but so is my commute.

In any case, I don't think we've ever seen an example of anyone being at 2K+ on the factory fill @ 90% (let alone 3.5K).

Could flashing a new tune reset it?

Pretty sure if you search you'll see an instance of this happening. It's been a while though... and I think it might have been from a dealer ECU update rather than a 3rd party tuner.

i have 3550 miles on my new si and my oil life is at 90%... Is this normal? The percentage seems high.
I'm at 5000 miles and my Oil life is at 75%. I'm starting to worry... Should I get an oil change or should I wait until the oil life drops under 20%?

The things in life that worry us. Relax, enjoy your car, follow the MM the rest will fall into place. Or, it will burst into a ball of flames and you'll need a new car. I think you'll be okay though...it's not linear so for those of you that don't remember, didn't pay attention, or just didn't care in Algebra 1, if something is linear, in this case the MM, the percentage would decrease as mileage increases at a CONSTANT rate, but this is NOT what happens.

There, class dismissed.
