I would have NOT gone ahead with it’s the oil change. I would have taken it to the dealer as soon as I saw that. First oil leak we have seen on this forum. Did you take it to the dealer since? If it wasn’t coming from the oil filter, it’s not going to just stop leaking..

Same I would've taken that to the dealer ASAP, plus that's quite early for a erl change imo....

Maybe you should remove the red top cover and check the valve cover too.

I took my 2016 Civic LX 6MT in for oil change and service and they found that the Valve Cover Gasket is leaking. They ordered the part and now I have to schedule a time to get it in for warranty service.

I am currently just under 25,000 miles.

well when to my local honda dealer and talked to the warranty representative.

Before saying this he told me he was 95% sure of this...

he explained that Honda before shipping the engines from Ohio to the UK they apply some kind for metal protector so the engines don't get corrosion during shipment. he also said that it goes away in a couple hundred miles of usage (im at 2,200 miles right now). told me to keep monitoring and if the leak keeps appearing that they will check it out

Damn guys. i changed my oil at 1000 Miles with no oil leak. Now is 1560 and i noticed twice is wet at the same spot as your pictures. Seems like is coming around the oil pan as i did not see any leak above the pan bolts.

Did Honda fix your leak? If so, what was it?

Could be a bad gasket or possible the oil pan bolts are not torqued properly. If you know the torque specs, try torqueing the bolts to see if they are at spec.

I tried tighten those 2 bolts and trust me they are tight. My 2005 civic ex with 127xxx miles without any leak. What is up with Honda's new car craftmanship?

Ok, just don’t over torque. I always use a torque wrench so I know when something has reached the limit I set. Anyway, I’m very interested in seeing if there are more issues like this. Thankfully this appears to be very limited and relatively easy to overcome.

oil leak persisted

after the dealer check it out they found it was the valve cover gasket.

replaced! no more leak!
