Hi guys, was doing an oil change ans noticed a little oil last oil change but today it’s worse. Looks like it’s coming from where the engine and tranny meet. Anyone hear of any issues like this?

Sorry for the dark pics. Was dark when I was working on the car.

2019 Type R with 6,600 miles.

Thanks!

That sucks. At least you won’t have to pay for it. Warranty!

Yeah I Know, but the thought of someone yanking the tranny and then the cup of extra nuts and bolts after the job is done… hahah!

No Honda dealer is gonna let lube tech Billy do a rear main on a type R. That’s a master tech job. Honda might want that job documented as well to see what went wrong.

Rear main seals generally create an oil slick that goes to the rear of the car - what you have looks like a situation where you didn’t properly torque the drain plug or use a new crush washer. Maybe an oil filter that’s not tightened to spec.

Either way, I’d like to hear what Honda says.

Oil in those pics are not near the filter or drain plug.

Thanks for the input but that’s not the case. Not from drain plug or oil filter areas, those areas were bone dry when I dropped the aluminum pan. It might be hard to tell from the pics but oil is going toward the rear of the car.

Have you checked the backside of the engine cover? Is there oil puddled there?

Had to take mine in for warranty service after noticing oil back there.

Yeah, if it’s the place I think you are talking about I got that too. Like on top/back of the head, passenger side just below the valve cover?

I’m looking at reviews and seeing who has a decent service department. Last week I had to get a part for our Accord and ended up talking with a service advisor at Cambridge Honda and I got good vibes from him. He was a car guy so I think he can understand I want the job done right.

Below is a pic of what I think you are talking about?

You can remove that black inspection plate between the engine and transmission to see if the leak's coming from inside the housing.
Thanks for the tip! I was thinking to do that but figure I didn’t want to be taking anything apart in case they get picky about if I “touched” the car. Want to leave it as is. Plus it’s tough to get under the car enough to see what’s behind that inspection plate in the driveway. I wasn’t on ramps and just jacked up one side of the car enough to crawl under for the oil change.

No problem! Fortunately it's just a plate with two small bolts, but totally understandable that you want to preserve the issue for the mechanic. I had a similar leak near that area and had to stop myself from cleaning it just so the mechanic can see it lol.
