What brand oil do you use? That literally shouldnât be, aside from the level dropping or contamination. Not in that short distance. Mineâs at 50% right now. Iâll try to pay more attention when it gets lower, but Iâve never noticed it.When my minder gets to around 30%, there is a change that occurs and I get a noticeable amount of more engine sound. Rev match downshifts are much louder and raspier. It also sounds like itâs running worse on cold morning cold starts.
When I get fresh oil in it, itâs night and day how much smoother and quieter it is. Call me crazy, but something changes chemically around that time. I check the oil regularly. It doesnât consume a drop.
Maybe itâs fine. The oil that is 5000-7000 miles deep since the last oil change could still be lubricating just as well. But I want that bitch running as smooth as it is now at 200k miles.
Why would you feel paranoid? You canât really change your oil âtoo oftenâ. The only things it hurts is the environment and your pocketbook. This thread makes me paranoid. Is 3500 too often??
LOL! Incidentally, it probably would, but it also is thicker cold starting, so harder (slightly) on internals then. Will also affect fuel mileage a bit. As for your turbo? Unless you go to something like a 50w, it shouldnât really careâŠWhat so you say running thicker oil will quiet the engine noises?
Wouldnât hurt to get some fresh oil in it before it gets too cold. Then you wonât have to change it in January when itâs 10 degrees. So after reading all this it's pretty cold here in PA and my oil life is 20% and I'm like 3 weeks away from my change should I just take it in now? Also my Ktuner is coming tomorrow so I'm figuring I should just wait to get all my fluids changed before I flash it idk if it's necessary but it just makes sense to me.
Mobil 1 extended performance w/ mobil 1 filter as well. What brand oil do you use? That literally shouldnât be, aside from the level dropping or contamination. Not in that short distance. Mineâs at 50% right now. Iâll try to pay more attention when it gets lower, but Iâve never noticed it.
We aren't mass spectrometers you can't go off of smell to see if oil has any life left in it.I have a powertrain warranty that requires changes at 7,500 so thatâs what I do. Looking at and smelling my oil at 7,500 miles I wouldnât want to go much further anyway.
My maintenance minder shows 50% at 7,500 miles (all highway). Thatâs 2 months of driving for me.
I use Mobil-1 0W-20 Synthetic. Costco has 6 qts. on sale frequently for $28. I use Honda OEM oil filters.
Lol I know⊠unless itâs got load of fuel in it! Just having a bit of funWe aren't mass spectrometers you can't go off of smell to see if oil has any life left in it.
Well, I hear that company is âOkayâ at making a passable product⊠?Mobil 1 extended performance w/ mobil 1 filter as well.
i just put one on i havent seen it yet.. so ya theres alot on the magnet?I changed mine after owning it a month, the dealer said they changed it when I bought it but at only 2,000 miles of my driving, the oil came out black. I changed it with a WIX oil filter and a Mobil 1 and a quart of Synthetic Lucas treatment
