Is this some sort of oil reservoir blow off tube or something? I assume some minimal oil residual or spillage in the area makes sense then? Appreciate our expert advice.
Side note - Installed an Injen SRI last night. Is the heat shield suppose to contact the engine housing via that strange tube trim they had me install to the heat shield??

Thanks

mine was dirty too, but i had just assumed it was just from the dealer being messy. as far as it being a tube if i remember its just a solid rubber piece that just a handle could be wrong though.

How old is your car? I had oil collect in the exact same spots, I soaked it up with paper towels and it never came back. This happened 2 weeks after I got it. I believe it's just from factory assembly, or oil that the parts were coated with.

That's the transmission fluid. What you likely thought was oil, was just grimy water that made its way there.

If you're leaking transmission fluid you'd know it.
How do you suppose it got there? I swore I looked mine over really well and it wasn't there when I brought it home. I found it a couple weeks later. But like I said, it never came back.

The area next to the Tranny Fluid plug is a "dimple", like a bowl.

Dirty water could have kicked up, come down from above, any other way.

Tranny fluid is light pink to dark brown, and there's really no way it would "erupt" out of the hole.
