With modification, yes. It's not a direct bolt on.

I don't think. I think the R is wider, so the hood may be too wide for a sport. This is pure speculation though

There is a Type R style hood on ebay for standard civics for around $450 unpainted.

It is a functional vent, these little engines get incredibly hot so any air you can get to them helps.
With the rain/water drainage thing there, it doesn't look like it does too much. A grill with a wider opening will do much more which is probably why the 2020 R has one.

At speed you'd be surprised how much air can get through a small opening. Im sure honda knows what they're doing or they wouldnt put it there
