So i was reading the eibach install instruction to install their front swaybar ,when i noticed they removed a brace that i never saw before.Upon further research i noticed this is a floor brace that only comes on the Civic hatch EX ,LX and sport. It's mounted partially on the heat shield and on the chassis with 4 m10 bolts.
I noticed the bolts and the space is already there on all the other models ,allthough they might be a bit shorter.
This is another nice oem bolt on brace to further increase the cars rigidty.

Floor brace is part number 74178-TEA-T00 Cost around $7 - $10
Bolts are part number 90114-SM4-000 cost around $2.64 -$3.74 each

Part number 14 & 9

Nice so it's only on the hatchback then.

Nice find! Watching this closely. Can any sedan Si owner comment on whether the brace is factory-installed? If it is, then it bodes well for adding to the mod list for lower trims (non-hatchback). Thanks!

I checked the online Honda Parts again and it's not on the regular sedan, coupe ,sedan si or coupe si .Its on all the hatches. On the type r i can only see the bolts listed ,the brace itself not.So i'm not sure the type R also has this .It's something that's only on the hatchbacks.Would be a nice upgrade for all the sedans and coupe.

Type R does not have any under body brace. But Cusco offer an aftermarket brace as picture below.

FYI if you use the Type R exhaust on your hatchback, the front resonator does not allow for this brace to be installed.

Update. I checked under my car, and it looks like there are holes there but no threads. I do not believe this will work on sedans.

I bought the Thermal R&D Exhaust. It came with a thick metal brace to replace that piece. Definitely a nice addition and also extends lower to give exhaust room etc..

This will not fit sedans. The holes are not threaded as mentioned. Additionally for the SI at least, the plastic shielding covers the holes completely.

I'm sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I can't find an answer.

I see the sedans have holes however are not threaded for the bolts, is there enough there to thread the holes myself for the brace? So it can be installed on a si sedan?
Thanks.

Now that you brought this back up , i recently did some maintenance on my European 10th gen sedan and it had this brace installed from the factory. So apparently some sedans also have this.
