I just bought an OBD2 scanner & it doesn't seem to push on all the way. I have to really push hard to make a connection. If I drive a couple miles it stops working & I have to re-seat it. It looks like it should push on another 1/8" before it bottoms out on the OBD2 port. Either this is normal or something is preventing the scanner from pushing on all the way.

Does this seem normal ?

Here's some additional information.

I tried the reader in another car & it plugs in properly.

I tried a friend’s scanner on the Civic & it plugs in all the way.

Could it be a physical size tolerance issue with the Civic’s OBD2 port being just a tiny bit too big in some dimension & not all readers are loose enough to accommodate it?

Has anyone experienced fitment problems with OBD2 readers / scanners?

I bought a reader from harbor freight years ago for my 2004 tiburon it fit good when I had a 2003 VW Jetta it didn’t fit and it fit on my brothers 1999 Ford Explorer and it fit on my 2014 Elantra coupe I don’t have it now
It was the cheapest one they sold I guess it depends on how much you spend on one

The reader I bought is a bluetooth model & was highly rated on Amazon & other review sites. It was priced about middle of the road as far as bluetooth readers go.
