Any recommendations for a replacement shift knob that is not so painful in the heat? I guess a wooden one.

Tied a piece of soft leather (about 6" square) with a boot lace over ours the day after purchasing our '12 Si - for the cold shock. It works great in 114 degrees also. Sure it's not super snug but we've only retied it once in 62,000 miles.

Have you tried these? The thermal bag seems like it wouldn't do much when the car interior climbs up to 140ºF and the neoprene cover seems like it would feel kind of annoying.
It does help a ton and you don't drive with it on, it's just a cover during the day in the hot sun....

Has anyone tried fitting the standard leather shift knob from the 2017 Si (sedan or coupe) into the Type R? I know it's a more "simple" looking knob on the Si, but I'm OK with that.

While the sides of the '17 Si knob are not metal, be aware that the natural grip is to have your palm on the top of the shifter - it'll still be very hot or cold until the knob reaches a reasonable temperature.

Yeah, I thought about that. I have a 2015 Si currently and the shift knob on my car is very similar to the '17 Si's shift knob. Leather on the sides, little bit of metal on the top. My current shift knob doesn't bother me.

I guess for an all-leather version we could take the shift knob from the Hatch Sport and see if that would work. Have to imagine it would.

While an all-leather knob might be nice, I don't want to pay over $100 for one, and the Honda OEM ones are going for over $130.

Has anyone tried any of the shift knobs from EPCO? I'm thinking one of their Rally Knobs might look nice and should be easier in the heat.

When I bought my Si, I picked up the Type R accessories pamphlet and it has this knob available Fall 2017.

And now it's back ordered till next summer. I just throw a micro-fibre towel over the knob. Blocks the sun so it doesnt get hot.
