Haha, It's addictive, expensive, and I don't know where to start. Maybe I should actually get the car and drive it for a while before deciding.
Yeah. I’m thankful I took a new job last year that’s been SUUUUPER great for us financially. I’ve got tint and clear bra going on next week and then a JL Audio dual 8w3 powered sub box going in the 1st of May. I’m not going to do anything that’ll get me dinged at the dealership for warranty work until 3yrs/36k miles are done, but man do I wanna!

Seems I'm in a similar boat. I'm waiting for finalization on a new role that will greatly improve my financial situation, and my car comes with 7 year / 160,000 kms powertrain warranty (currently at 48,000kms), so I'm hesitant to make any engine mods until it's done. Guess we'll see how it goes.

Are you doing the sub install yourself, and are you replacing the rest of the speakers?? Would be interested to know how it goes. The stock system isn't bad compared to some cars, but I feel I'm gonna want that extra low end pretty soon.

I wish I had the time to do the sub install, but I’m just going to pay to have it done. I used to do all my own car audio, but that was when it was all separate systems and RCA cable connection. They’re just going to tap into the existing speaker lines and use the line input on the amp, which will hopefully be sufficient. I don’t blast my music like I used to and just wanted some more low end, which should be well served by this JL box; plus it’ll be easily removable if I want to haul anything as well.

The stock speakers are decent enough, but I’ll probably end up putting some Hertz components in the front at the very least; possibly even with an amp at some point.

Hello!
New member here. found the forum right after i purchased my new to me, used 2018 Civic SI.
Already ordered a ktuner, and plan to do the standard bolt-on mods (CAI, downpipe, intercooler)
This is first true SI i have owned. I've had a 93 civic hatch that i ran til the headgasket blew, then swapped it. Drove an integra with a B16 for a bit. Had a fews goes in a friends turbo integra. Daily'ed a 2012 civic EX for a couple months.... despite all this, I wouldn't consider myself a Honda guy (or civic ), but this purchase was very intentional, and I am so far loving the car.
Has anyone figured out how to operate the windows without starting the car? I left the sunroof open one night, and tried everything i could think of, but ended up having to actually start the engine to close the thing. unfortunate. Also, the radio, how can i operate that without the engine running? why does it turn off when i stop the engine?

anyway, hello, and thanks for having me.

If you tap the starter button twice without your foot on the clutch, it’ll put the car in accessory mode and you’ll be able to use the electronic bits like windows and stereo. The first press turns on some things in the gauge cluster, the second press is full accessory mode. ?

Hey all long time lurker, finally decided to make an account. Honda is what everyone in my family rocks. Growing up I had a Honda dirt bike. I leased a few accords before I purchased my civic ext sedan back in 2016. It’s my daily. So far the only thing I have done to it is upgrade to LED lights inside the main compartment and trunk. I also tinted all my windows including windshield. Tinting was the first thing I did. I literally drove it off the lot and straight to the tint shop that day. I refuse to ride fish bowl!

Anyways, lately I have been wanting to do some visual mods soon. My plan is to stat off by chrome deleting everything with vinyl wrap, upgrad the high/low/Fogs to LEDs, get window visors, and put either D2 lowering springs or eibach pro. I can’t decide for the life of me which one to go for yet, even after reading numerous threads. I also want to get new tires and wheel soon.

I baby my car and believe it or not my tires are still in great shape and my rims have no scratches on them. Once I drop the car on springs I’ll most likely rock the stock tires/wheels for a bit.

I'm looking forward to learning more and upgrading my car as I’m still very new to all this.

Welcome to the new people since my last post, I’m also new in the last couple of days

7yrs is going to be a long wait!!!!

I wish I had the time to do the sub install...
I meant to say it has 3 years left of it’s 7 year warranty. Guess I was still is sleep mode when replying. I’m honestly not sure I’ll wait that long, gonna see how quickly I tire of the new toy.

I also did my own first install in my first car, but that was an ‘87 Ford Escort, at a time when you could just take out the single din and throw in a new one. I might take a crack at doing the door speakers myself, but seems like a good idea to get a shop to do the sub, especially taking the car apart to run power.

I’d be interested to know how the new sub sounds and whether you’d recommend it if you remember.

Getting it put in on May 1st. I’ll try to remember to get back here and reply with my thoughts. I’ve always had good experience with JL Audio equipment and the install shop I’m using has been around for decades and has done work for me in the past, which I’ve been happy with.

New here... just purchased my '18 sport touring hatch a couple weeks ago as a birthday gift to myself.

This is my 4th Honda, I purchased my first Civic ('01 LX sedan) at 16 and it was stolen, sold it shortly after as it had been heavily parted out, but still it ran. Next was an '01 EX coupe, had it a short time then moved overseas. Recently sold my '13 Accord sport as the hatch of my dreams showed up in my area and price range.

I did not mod my previous Hondas so I'm learning here what to tackle first... lots of good information to sort through here!

You'll regret adding just the subs. The stock speakers are garbage, and can't handle the power the subs will want to push.

We’ll see. If I don’t like it, then I’ll just add an amp and some speakers. No big deal.
