Hey guys. I recently traded up to the 2017 Hatch Sport 6MT. Loving it over my previous '16 Coupe CVT. But I feel like it may of lost a little power since the first couple weeks of ownership.

I know very little about car engines, but I have a slight feeling it doesn't have the same power, seems like the RPM and acceleration is lagging compared to before. I hope it's in my head- nothing else seems off. Maybe I lost a little confidence after a mustang smoked me from a stoplight (not fair, I know lol.)

My head gets the best of me at times- do you guys think I am over thinking or could there be power loss this soon? Owned just under 1 month, just about 1300 miles.

I don't drive it too hard often, but have been pushing it here and there. On day 1 after about 150 mile highway ride home, I was tying to show off with friends and had the tach bouncing in the red but only for a split second going from a stop (still getting used to how short 1st gear is.) Also was a little rough on the clutch during uphill stop and go traffic, but that was on the initial drive home, too.

Thanks for any input !

Do an ECU reset (take the positive battery terminal off off for a minute or so) and see how it drives after that. A while ago a few folks were noticing boost dropping ( judging by the dash gauge so take it with a grain of salt) by a couple bars. An ECU reset would fill all the boost bars again.

1. You could just be getting used to the power. No matter how powerful your car is, eventually you get used to it and it starts feeling "normal."

2. It's summer. It's getting warmer, and warm air is less dense than cold air, which will mean less power.

Do you mean the turbo bars? The non-touring Sport doesn't have those, I just was going of the tach and feel.

I kinda had a similar thought about number 1. Both are good points, thanks man!

Are you using 91 or 93 octane? Makes a big difference. And make sure Econ is off, makes the car slow.

My mileage is really tanking this month.
Varmint, I am using only 91. Is 93 a Canadian thing? Never see it in California. I think it was all in my head, had a little fun driving home and think I am just getting used to the new engine and transmission like Timber suggested.

I noticed a huge decline in power this week, since we are are at 35 degrees C. A/C at full power doesn't help either

93 is available in most of the rest of the US. I think they have "94" in Canada that is actually not as good as US 93. Fuel is rated differently depending on the country.

Well one guy did say that he took it in due to loss of power and they found that the factory hadn't put all the intercooler piping fasteners on so there is that.

I know it doesn't have the bars... But it still has the turbo. I could feel the speed difference when a couple bars down on boost. You just don't have the visual indicator is all. Could still be the same cause.

Interesting, good to know thanks.

I've always heard negative first - is that only if you are disconnecting both sides? I am assuming it's safe to just do the positive for the reset, like you said. Just want to confirm. Thank you for your replies.

Sgtstaadanko - I went ahead and just pulled off the positive for a minute. Test drove it around the block, didn't seem to make a noticeable difference but I will give it a push next time. Glad I reset it.

I did notice that a few lights on my dash came on, some came and went but others stayed on (traction, steering, brake system, TPS, etc.) after I did this. I parked, turned the ignition off and back on, and they all went away. I am assuming this is normal after the reset, can you confirm since it sounds like you've tried this? Thanks again !

(93 is East Coast only - that's why the NA CTR is tuned for 91 (306 hp) not like the UK 93 equivalent (316hp).
